A PHEV, or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle, is a type of vehicle that combines a conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery. Unlike traditional hybrids, PHEVs can be plugged into an electrical outlet or charging station to charge their batteries.
This allows them to operate on electric power alone for a certain distance before the gasoline engine kicks in. PHEVs offer the flexibility of using electric power for short trips, which can lead to reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions, while still having the range of a conventional vehicle for longer journeys.
Toyotas at this stage do not have a PHEV for the Australian market. Should you wish to claim an FBT exemption for a Toyota, bZ4X is the only model where an FBT exemption applies and it is an EV.
